No need to be worried to travel to Iran alone! “solo traveler in Iran” We can see many changes in travel styles in the last ten years. There are different factors that affect the travel styles. Having easy access to the internet, the great numbers of travel blogs, incredible variety of books and magazines have made the trip planning easier for travelers.  These days many young people quit their job to travel all around the world. To make it cheaper and faster they would prefer to be alone. There are some other travelers who don’t have any travel mate. In this blog we want to explain the most important notes for people who travel to Iran alone.

According to the news and the ongoing conflicts, Middle East seems to be a chaotic region. But in the middle of this chaos, Iran is by far the safest in the region. If you hear negative news about Iran in western Medias, usually you should ignore them. The reality should be heard from the tourists who they have visited Iran recently. They can be an authentic source for the answer of this question:  is it safe to travel to Iran alone?

Many tourists say before their trip to Iran, their friends and relatives told them, Are you crazy to travel to Iran alone? Why Iran? Are you sure about your trip? It’s not safe! They came to Iran with doubt. But after their trip to Iran, they usually describe it as one of the safest countries they’ve ever visited. Some of them say “Iran is much safer than travelling in Europe”.

Violent crime against tourists is very rare. Usually you see people who are really friendly and ask about your nationality and your experience in Iran. Of course, even if Iran is safe, you need to be careful like in every other place. Use your common sense, follow the rules (and there are pretty many of them in Iran but still nothing too overwhelming), respect local culture and people and you shouldn’t have any problems!

Transportation

If you would like to visit different sites in Tehran, Metro will be the best option. It’s quite cheap, safe, fast and interesting in terms of communicating with local people. In the other cities it would be better to take a cab to go around.

To go from one city to another train is the best option but it’s not available in every routes. The other option is VIP bus which is quite comfortable in most of the routes. And if you would like to save your time and visit more sites and cities, it’s better to hire a driver.

Must-have app

There are some applications for those people who travel to Iran alone. Here’s the list:

  1. “Bonbast” is available on Google Store. It’s a very reliable app to check the currency rates in Iran. By using this app, you will drastically decrease the possibility of being cheated.
  2. “Snapp” is the Iranian version of UBER and it’s available in almost every touristic city in Iran.
  3. “VPN” is an easy way to access blocked social Medias and websites such as Facebook, tweeter and YouTube. Hundreds of them are available on Google Store and App Store.
