I spent nearly three incredible weeks exploring Iran with Tours of Iran, and the experience far exceeded my expectations. The itinerary, thoughtfully planned by Sori, highlighted the country’s stunning architecture, rich history, and wonderfully warm people. My guides and drivers—Hussein, Ali, and Mohammad—were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind throughout.
Unfortunately, the trip was cut short due to the escalation of Israeli airstrikes on Iran. Despite the uncertainty, Mohammad, my driver, went above and beyond to ensure my safety—personally driving me to the Turkish border (Bazargan–Gurbulak) so I could exit safely, which I deeply appreciate.

Even with the abrupt ending, I will always remember Iran as a beautiful, welcoming country full of remarkable people. I sincerely hope to return one day under more peaceful circumstances.

This was my second trip with Tours of Iran. I had such a wonderful experience the first time in 2023 I decided to return to see more of this beautiful country and people. As before, I was solo, with the extremely experienced and professional, Mohammad as my guide and driver. It was like travelling with an old friend (well, he certainly is now!) as we chat and laugh and explore together.
Tours of Iran has been so helpful and professional, their experience really shows. They know how to tailor a tour to each person so we get the absolute best out of our visit. Everything from the visa application to airport transfers were seamless and made my solo trip stress-free. I cannot recommend them too highly.
This time we started in the Gulf at Qeshm Island. I arrived in Tehran, stayed overnight and was picked up the next morning and taken to the domestic airport for my flight to Qeshm. After a couple of days there including Hormuz Island, we took the ferry across to the mainland and started our journey northwards, eventually reaching Tabriz, then making our way south again to Tehran where I caught my flight home after a whirlwind 3 weeks.
I cannot stress how safe and friendly it is in Iran. I wouldn’t have returned if I felt the slightest concern – in fact I couldn’t wait to go back. The landscapes, the people, the absolutely incredibly beautiful mosques, and the food…all wonderful. Each town or village is unique and each corner turned along the highways brings yet another stunning view. From the coast, to the desert, to the mountains, it’s beautiful.
And yes, I’m trying to work out how I can go back again!

She arranged all the necessary visa papers for me and guided me through the entire process. I’ve got the visa in 2 minutes when arriving to the international airport of Tehran.
I was welcomed by the bright, large and warm smile of Mohhamad, one of the driver-guides of the team. We spent 9 days as travel mates, while he kindly drove and guided me through Tehran – the city of museums, Kashan – a lovely placed in the vicinity of both mountains and desert, the very royal Isfahan – the city of arts, the melancholic desert city of Yazd – the city of architecture, and the cosmopolitan Shiraz – the city of culture. I was and felt safe all the time. For Mohhamad, Soraya and your team, you are “the guest”, and they make you also feel accordingly: kindly welcome 😊. On daily basis, I was stopped on the street by people simply wishing to say “hello” and “welcome to Iran”. Ladies, do not worry about Hijab and Chador, because Iranian daily life and international media are quite different things.
Visiting Iran was never a question of “if” for me, only one of “when” (I did not to listen to the media, advice of my government, etc). One can read a lot about the culture, the history, the art, and architecture. These are also mentioned in your travel plan. Yet what you experience is far richer than that !!
Mohhamad, empathic and blessed with a high emotional intelligence, took me galivanting through the bazaars, a trip into opulent and saturated colours of the carpets, the shiny skilful copper work, the rich but refined smell of fruits, herbs and spices, the amazingly detailed and precise patterns of Khatam Kari, the saturated blue and turquoise of Mina Kari… And the miniatures, each one a story for itself… Further the places for manufacturing the amazing variety of sweet treats. I did not even managed to try them all, but my favourites are Ghottab and Sohan.
Each day we eat something different, yet always tasty. The cuisine is balanced (as if nutritionist recommended 😊), fresh, presented nicely decorated on big plates, together with good flat bread. I drank the best tea (black tea with saffron is a must try) always accompanied by some sweet surprize (and there are so many of them in Iran). The same goes for the coffee, one better cappuccino after the other.
All places were lovely and lively, but what I enjoyed most was the company of people and the beautiful Iranian music. There is a politeness, kindness, and respectfulness of human interactions in Iran which is (unfortunately) lost in many parts of the world. The same is true for the handwriting and calligraphy.
Finally, I entered Iran with a curious mind and an open heart. I have simply listened to Mohhmad and have followed his lead. And this is how we drew a picture of Iran together, in warm and rich colours, smells and sounds, for me to take home as a cherished memory.
In case you wonder whose experience you have just red about: I am a single white woman, born in 1967, raised and educated in Romania (another “odd” country on the map 😊). I work in research and higher education. I travel a lot, both for business and leisure. For my latest vacation (between the 7th and 17th of February 2025) I’ve let myself be spoiled by the beautiful impressions of Iran 😊.

Overall the trip was excellent. The price was surprisingly cheap given I was going alone.
The hotels (I chose 5 stars option) was very good value and uniformly good, being extremely comfortable if a little old. Restaurants selected by guide were all delicious and usually not far from tour destinations.
Plan was excellent, not excessive or too sparse. This plan would be impossible to carry out without a local guide who can drive, which Tours of Iran provided.
The guides provided were excellent. Highly competent, knowledgable and accomodating.

I was very pleased overall with the tour as the hotels were all of a reasonable standard and transport was prompt. Guides were knowledgeable and ready to be supportive or answer any questions. I felt the time was just right in terms of being kept occupied with things to see and do throughout. The staff were overtly helpful in every request, getting simcard sorted, changing money and providing transport for flights. Yes I would use this company again and definitely recommend them. As you can see I’ve made many submissions to Tripadvisor as there are some questionable one submission only reviews on other companies that I identified as probably not genuine. Be aware amigos.

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I chose the Glories of Persia which was jam-packed with so many different experiences. Everything went so smoothly from my initial inquiry to my dropoff at the airport, the company organisation is professional, friendly and very efficient.
Roya answered every question I had, ensured my visa process ran smoothly and made helpful suggestions about adding a couple of days to the tour.
My guide, Mohammad was amazing – it was like travelling with a friend I’d known for years. He was completely in tune with my needs (coffee, breaks to rest) and super knowledgeable about all the sights, plus a very safe driver! He made everything so much fun and interesting. He’s an absolute treasure!
The hotels along the way were excellent, I particularly loved the Traditional Hotels.
Sights: So much to see – the decorative arts are such a feature in Persian society – the mosques, palaces, bazaars – everything is so beautiful. The scenery on tour was stunning.
Safety: I didn’t have a single moment’s concern about safety, in fact Iran is one of the safest countries I’ve visited. The people are so friendly, it is a sophisticated society and very cosmopolitan in the cities.

After our wonderful 18 days tour of 2022 we decided to try a new experience in Iran to know the eastern part and the south of the country.
Tours of Iran has realised for us a perfect itinerary through the most interesting places as Mesr desert, Bishapur, the Holy Mashad, Gonabad, TorbateJam, Kerman, Lut desert, Qeshm Island, the South Coast until Siraf, with a very nice mix of history, architecture, decoration and nature.
They have prepared the itinerary in all the details, accomodations were nice, clean and confortable and especially very tasteful of the traditions and way of life of the local people and that was so important and appreciated for us.

We visit Iran at july 2023 , our tour guide, name Ali was magnificant. Fluent speaking english , he was our tour guide and gastronomic guide.A man full of knowledge, historical data, even down to the smallest details. We visited several historical sites, Tehran, Yazd, Shiraz, Isfahan. Individual and group tours are possible. The itinerary is carried out as agreed. We also visit Persepolis , Necropolis.
We recommend the guide Ali, because he has a very serious approach to work, and pays attention to even the smallest details.
He brought us closer to the history of this wonderful, friendly people

Ohro Ali and Roya were an amaizing couple that took me in like family while I was solo travelling across Iran. I met Ali on a day tour, and we got along so nicely, I spent 3 days woth them 🙂 in the end, I even made a roadtrip with Ali. I felt like travelling with an old friend. And Roya, the magic lady, really listened to everything i was thinking and got me a night in an observatory :O would really recommend to anyone!

Ali is warm, energetic and enthusiastic. He speaks fluent English, and has a deep knowledge and love of his country. Moreover, he could answer and explain the very obscure questions I asked him about history, language and culture, among other things. He was also flexible in suggesting and including sites not specifically mentioned in our itinerary when they were on the route, so we saw and appreciated places we might not have seen otherwise. I had wanted to visit Iran for 25 years, some places in particular. Ali understood the importance of these unusual sites to me, and kindly gave me plenty of time to absorb their atmosphere, although it sometimes meant a long day’s drive for him. He is an excellent driver and I felt safe with him.

Roya is warm, wise and knowledgeable. She speaks English well and is a skilful driver. She was passionate and well informed about the places that she guided us around, as well as some I visited without a guide. She took special note of our interests and suggested places that we might find worthwhile and enjoyable to visit. She also contacted local people in my areas of interest for more information and to answer queries that she and Ali weren’t sure about. Her very personalised, warm-hearted service went above and beyond the call of duty.
Iran is a truly magnificent country of superb landscapes, ancient history, splendid architecture and especially its welcoming people. Roya and Ali are the embodiment of my deep experience of Iran, the journey of my lifetime.

We were a group of four visiting Iran for the first time in Oct 2018 for a total of 15 days. While we usually traveled on our own, we decided to book through travel agencies due to the uncertainty. Although we found out later Iran is safe and easily one of the friendliest/hospitable countries we have visited. We had local guides in other cities and we honestly didn’t expect much after Tehran but we lucked out to have Ali for 6 days from Yazd to Kerman. We traveled great distance from Yazd to Kerman and our ride was smooth; we never had to wait to be picked up and we always got dropped off just a few steps to the attractions. As far as communication goes, Ali speaks perfect English and Persian (lol). On top of that Ali is knowledgeable, patient, kind, fun-loving and passionate about his own history and heritage (and poetry!!). We felt safe the entire time (even walked barefoot in the Lut desert) and our trip was definitely more memorable because of Ali and Omir the driver. In the end, it was more like travelling with two good friends.
One bonus point I want to point out is Ali’s knowledge of good restaurants. All the places he brought us for lunch, the local snacks he picked and all the restaurant recommendations we got from him for dinner were, for lack of a better word, AWESOME! And I have photos to show for it, lol.
Iran is a magnificent country rich in history, culture, natural scenery and the Persian cuisine will have you eating non-stop. However, a great tour guide will enhance your experience all the more. I highly recommended Ali and would not think twice to contact him again for my next visit.
