Day 1

An early morning flight takes you to Ahvaz, where we’ll be waiting to pick you up at the airport. After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a brief visit to Ahvaz and the Karoon River before heading to Shushtar for an introductory tour.

Next, we’ll drive to Tchogha-Zanbil, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring a ziggurat from the Elamite era. In the afternoon, you’ll explore Shushtar’s historical watermills. Lunch will be at the traditional Mostofi Museum and Restaurant.

You’ll spend the night in Shushtar.

Day 2

This morning, we’ll head to Negin Bridge and Shimbar Waterfall, followed by lunch in a local home, the last stop with electricity.

If time permits, we’ll visit Dezpart Steps. In the afternoon, we’ll embark on a 3-4 hour hike to reach the Nomad’s black tent in the Zagros Mountains, enjoying the scenic views and pleasant weather.

Tonight, under a starry sky, we’ll have a hot meal and camp in a cozy tent to recharge for the next day’s migration (KUCH).

Day 3

Today, we embark on a pilgrimage to meet the first group of Bakhtiari Nomads in the Zagros Mountains. These authentic nomads of Iran practice seasonal migrations. We’ll join them in their ‘Kuch’ (Migration) and immerse ourselves in their nomadic lifestyle for a few days, experiencing life as it was in the past.

This journey is like visiting a ‘living museum’ of Iran’s indigenous people. It’s called an ‘Odyssey’ because through these experiences, we’ll learn a great deal about life and ourselves..

Day 4

This morning, enjoy the breathtaking view of the flock roaming the lush green pastures. Today marks the start of the Nomads’ Great Migration. For the next three days, we’ll join them on their epic journey through the Zagros mountain ranges.

Over these three days, we’ll hike a total of 42 km. Flexibility is essential, as the Nomads’ routine is unpredictable and we might encounter unexpected adventures that require us to adapt. As we follow the flock through the Zagros mountains, take in the unforgettable scenic beauty of the region.

You are surrounded by majestic mountains and oak trees, with the sound of sheep bells filling the air. Capture the moment with photos and absorb the stunning views. In the afternoon, when the Nomads halt and set up their black tent, you’ll have plenty of time to relish the peaceful surroundings. At night, enjoy a cool sleep under the starry sky in the refreshing mountain air. This authentic nomadic experience during Kuch is unforgettable.

On day five, we bid farewell to the Nomads and continue our journey to the picturesque mountain village of Khouye. After three days of migrating with the Nomads, a comfortable and cozy village house will be the perfect place to rest.

Here, we are rewarded with expansive fruit gardens and charming old village houses. The village also offers a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. We will stay here for the

Day 5

After breakfast, we’ll explore the village. Then, after bidding farewell to our host family, we’ll head to the fascinating historical stepped village of Sar Agha Seyyed. Here, we can admire the unique architecture where the yard of one house serves as the roof of another.

The Zagros region has long been the most challenging leg of every nomadic journey. For thousands of years, Nomads have paused in this village en route to their summer or winter pastures. We’ll take a 15-minute hike to visit a nearby salt mine.

Day 6

Next, we’ll journey onwards to Chelgerd, where we’ll check into a hotel for the night. Our next stop is the breathtaking Koohrang Spring, the largest spring in Iran. Although it’s seldom visited by travelers due to its remote location and rough roads, its beauty is unparalleled. We’ll return to the hotel for the night.

Day 7

By midday, we arrive in Isfahan. Today and tomorrow, we’ll explore the city’s famous sights, including Naghshe Jahan Square, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque, Shah Mosque, and Ali Qapu. You are free to relax and unwind in the afternoon.

Day 8

The following day, we’ll explore Chehel Sotoun Palace, Si-o-se Pol Bridge, and Khaju Bridge, delving deeper into Isfahan’s rich history and culture. Afterward, we can look forward to a relaxing rest at the hotel.

Day 9

On day nine, we journey to Shiraz and arrive in the evening. One of the must-do experiences in Shiraz is a visit to Hafezie.

Hafez, the renowned Persian poet, rests in Hafezie. Many believe that Hafez’s poems offer insights into their futures. We can also seek guidance by visiting his tomb.

Day 10

We’ll explore other notable landmarks and historical sites like Narenjestan and the Khan-e Zand Complex, where Karim Khan summoned the finest architects and artists to design his citadel. The highlight of day ten is the Pink Mosque, renowned for its mesmerizing, vibrant colors. As we step inside, the reason for its nickname becomes apparent—it’s truly a sight to behold. In Shiraz, few things rival the beauty of its expansive green gardens.

At noon, we’ll venture to live among the Qashqai Nomads, our next immersive experience. Here, amidst the Qashqai Nomads, we’ll journey back in time and delve into another prominent ethnic group in Iran. We will spend a night with them.

Day 11

On day eleven, we’ll visit Naqsh-e Rostam and Persepolis, the ancient capital of the Achaemenid Empire, situated in Kuh-e Rahmat (Mountain of Mercy). These sites rank among the world’s most remarkable archaeological treasures.

Day 12

Today, we bid a fond farewell to Shiraz and prepare to visit the last group of Iranian Nomads living in one of the country’s most enchanting and authentic villages: Maymand.

This village is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Maymand, we will stay with semi-nomadic agro-pastoralists in unique and delightful housing.

The hand-carved cave dwellings are remarkable, reminiscent of ancient times when people lived in caves. These semi-nomads practice semi-migration (Kuch) with their livestock to nearby pastures. We will enjoy a peaceful night in these caves at the MaymandMoon Ecolodge.

Day 13

In Kerman, the city’s rich history is beautifully showcased at the Ganjali Khan Complex in the old city center, a stunning example of Safavid-era Persian architecture.

Next, we will visit the Jabalieh Dome, an ancient national monument that offers deeper insights into the history and architecture of Kerman. Afterward, we’ll enjoy exploring the historic bazaar of Kerman.

This grand bazaar dates back 600 years. After exploring it, we’ll head to the Mahan District, just a 15-minute drive away.

We will visit the Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine and Mahan Garden, also known as the Garden of Prince Mahan. Beyond its historical significance, the garden is remarkable for its striking contrast between the lush greenery inside and the desert-like surroundings outside.

Day 14

You will fly to Tehran and prepare for your journey home.
